Lamar Odom was born on November 6, 1979 in Queens, New York.  Lamar has gone through some tough times. The first of these was his mother dying when Lamar was 12 years old. Lamar was raised by his grandmother, whose favorite number was 7. Later Lamar lost his grandmother and before the 2006-2007 season lost his 6 1/2 month old son, Jayden. The last of these 2 losses have cause Lamar to play basketball, which he contemplated quitting, with an intense passion.
Odom attended Rhode Island University after some scandals occurred at UNLV where he was originally enrolled. Odom was selected 4th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers.  Odom played 4 seasons with the Clippers before signing with the Heat. He was then traded in 2004 to the Lakers in the Shaq trade.
Lamar Odom and Kobe Bryant have formed a dynamic duo playing well together. (There numbers together form 24/7)
